On Being an Artist

I’m an artist. I’d like to think I’m an artist. When does that happen? When does an artist become an artist. And don’t say money has anything to do with it. It doesn’t.

Yves Klein

I remember learning about Yves Klein. It gave me some sort of reassurance. It changed what I thought of as art. That is a pivotal moment in an artists life.

This was also around the time I watched ‘Jackass’ for the first time. That’s art. In fact, I would go as far as to say Johnny Knoxville is a prolific performance artist.

Yves made art philosophical. Yves made art just as intellectual and important as math and science. The bias of my father proved untrue.

I fell in love all over again.

Now, I am an artist.
